Freedom To Write For Palestine

An evening of literature in benefit for We Are Not Numbers, featuring Authors for Change at PEN America

Freedom to Write for Palestine is a literary event highlighting those authors who have renounced their nominations at PEN World Voices Festival in solidarity with Palestine, in benefit of the Palestinian writers organization We Are Not Numbers. The event will include speakers, readings, and workshops. Presented by PalFest, Writers Against the War on Gaza, and Adalah

In a historic moment of solidarity, dozens of authors have withdrawn from PEN America events, roundly rejecting the NGO’s historic failure to stand with Palestinian writers being killed and displaced en masse in Gaza. The annual Literary Awards have been cancelled and authors continue to pull out of the World Voices Festival. You can read more in LitHub’s extensive coverage here.

The event will be a fundraiser for We Are Not Numbers, a youth-led Palestinian nonprofit project in Gaza that provides the world with direct access to Palestinian narratives. Join us to hear from many of them!
