Sunday Service

This Sunday, Judson's Community Ministers will invite us to say yes to what wants to be birthed through us, even when we feel unprepared. We will explore how breakthrough emerges in the breaking, and how provision appears as we step into the unknown. Come break through with us -- and be sure to stick around after the service for our important Annual Meeting!

Judson Arts Wednesdays: “Solitude of a Pickled Feather” by Cameron Childs @ Black Aesthetics

This work gathers a series of embodied remnants—memory shards, repeated gestures, whispers of loss—to construct a living mosaic of remembrance. Solitude of a Pickled Feather moves through the tension between preservation and distortion, asking what it means to hold onto someone who is continually slipping away. The piece treats grief as a continued arrival and departure — an unspoken rhythm that never fully lands, yet remains persistently felt, shaping the body from within whenever and however it occurs. It explores seclusion, repetition, tenderness, and the slow erosion of memory, all while considering how the body becomes both archive and artifact—fragile, heavy, solitary, and collective at once.

We spent our first Sunday in Advent remembering that Jesus, whether he be in the form of a migrant baby or in the form of a crucified leader, is always trouble for anyone insisting on embodying the evils of Empire. This week, we'll bring in Mary's famous "Magnificat" throwdown song and explore just how deep Jesus's troublmaking roots go. Come light the candle for "Prophetic Peace" with Micah and let's see what a peace that actually speaks up and speaks out might look like.

Sunday Service

This Sunday, as we begin our annual Advent adventure and light the candle for “Prophetic Hope,” Micah will tie the start of the ancient Nativity narrative to the persistent power of World AIDS Day and those activists and organizers in our midst who keep acting up in order to uplift the lives that are most endangered right now.

In the stories our traditions tell, Jesus is Trouble to the Roman Empire and the abiding queer truth of that trouble just might keep us all lit for the collective liberation work that still lies ahead.

These quiet, contemplative sessions last an hour, beginning with an opening centering prayer, followed by about 10 minutes of silence, a devotional poetry reading, a sharing of prayer requests, another 10 minutes of silence, and a closing centering prayer. Sunday Service

What stories keep you stuck in harmful cycles? What collective myths keep us all shackled to shameful lies about who we've been, who we are, and who we can become? This Sunday, we'll gather in gratitude for the Autumn Shared Meal that will follow the service and we'll also gather around an invitation to shed the individual and collective untruths that hinder us. What's possible when we name what isn't working for all and commit to embodying new horizons together? What happens when we take back the narrative, of our faith, of our lives, of our identities and live into actual gospelly good news? What shakeups do we need to welcome in order to find ourselves "Persisting Beyond the Plot Twist?" Micah will facilitate, but your voice is needed in the miraculous mix. (And bring a dish to share, if you're able!)
