McNally Jackson Presents PATHEMATA with Maggie Nelson
Pathemata, Or, The Story of My Mouth, is an experiment in interiority written in the pandemic studio.
Something of a companion piece to 2009’s Bluets, Pathemata merges a pain diary chronicling a decade of jaw pain with dreams and dailies, eventually blurring the lines between embodied, unconscious, and everyday life. In scrupulously distilled prose, Pathemata offers a tragicomic portrait of a particularly unnerving and isolating moment in recent history, as well as an abiding account of how it feels to inhabit a mortal body in struggle to connect with others.

Bread & Puppet Theater
Puppet show! Puppet show! Bread & Puppet Theater is excited to announce our spring tour, traveling from Vermont down the Eastern Seaboard. Of our latest show, The Obligation to Live, director Peter Schumann reminds us that, “The obligation to be alive and act against the actors of death is just one of humanity’s many obligations. We also have the obligation to courage and the obligation to plant garlic in the rubble of the empire. Possibilitarians know this and bring giants, dragons, horses, sheep, butterflies, and the exact dance of death required for this exact moment.”
After the show Bread & Puppet will serve its famous sourdough rye bread with aioli, and Bread & Puppet’s “Cheap Art” – books, posters, postcards, pamphlets and banners from the Bread & Puppet Press – will be for sale.

Solidarity Skills & Strategies Training Day
From Community Minister Elæ Moss Benedetto:
This is an AMAZING program, offered for free, put together in collaboration with organizers and mutual aid orgs across the city, responding to our continued need to feel and be prepared for any number of scenarios -- and to acknowledge and sit with our bodyminds and how much they are carrying right now!
Feeling confident and informed makes such a difference not only in our physical actions on the ground but also how traumatized we feel -- not only in anticipation, during, and after challenging events. Skill training in community health and safety serves to demystify areas of fear, moving us out of uninformed panic into a space of discernment and familiarity with best practices.
